If you want to introduce solid food to your baby to take next step towards baby's health and growth, then here are some signs that shows if your baby is ready or not for solid food. Between the ages of 4 and 6 months, most babies are developmentally ready to get their first taste of solid foods.

Here are some signs that your child is ready to try solids:

    • Baby can sit up (with support) and can hold his/her head and neck up well.
    • Baby birth weight has doubled.
    • Baby’s interested in what you’re eating and may even try to grab food from your plate.
    • Baby can keep food in his/her mouth rather than letting it dribble out.
    • Baby shows signs of being hungry for more than baby’s getting by clamoring for more when his/her bottle is empty or wanting to nurse more often.
